Job summary

Baptist Health Princeton Hospital is seeking a Mental Health Tech I for weekend night coverage in the geriatric psychiatry unit. You will perform general nursing care under RN supervision while maintaining safety and a therapeutic environment.

The role emphasizes patient observation, documentation, teamwork with the nursing staff, and support for admissions, discharges, and daily care tasks. Training on unit competency and compliance with policies is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR certification; must obtain HWC certification within 90 days of hire.
• Experience in mental health/behavioral health or related roles preferred (see listed categories).

Responsibilities

• Documents observations in legible, accurate format.
• Communicates patient condition to RN and healthcare team.
• Assists with nursing education groups.
• Completes AM/PM care, vital signs, phlebotomy, milieu supervision.
• Demonstrates competency in unit tasks per competency list.
• Transports items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemo).
• Maintains attendance and policy compliance.
• Participates in PI activities and patient-rights awareness.
• Provides age-appropriate care per unit policies.
• Ensures safe, clean, organized unit and assists with admissions/discharges.
