Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is hiring for a Patient Care Technician II. The role focuses on direct patient care, high-risk patient observation, and active collaboration with the nursing team to ensure safety and comfort.

Responsibilities include vital signs, gentle patient handling, and assisting with daily activities while supporting a respectful, inclusive care environment in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of employment.
• English communication skills and basic computer literacy are required.
• Prior healthcare support experience or training is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, timely communication to the RN about patient observations.
• Maintain close observation of high-risk patients as assigned.
• Support safety and de-escalation efforts and assist with restraints per policy.
• Assist patients with daily living activities and mobility.
• Help with transport, positioning, and safe patient handling.
• Perform routine vital signs, measurements, and basic procedures per protocol.
