Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician I to perform a variety of patient care activities under licensed supervision. The role focuses on communication with nurses, safety, and assisting with daily living tasks in a patient care setting.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, BLS certification within 30 days, and strong English communication. Training and a team environment support career growth and patient-focused care.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner.
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic Medical Terminology knowledge.
• Must be able to remain calm when under stress or in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Communicate observations to the RN regarding patient status and changes (skin, vital signs, mental status).
• Maintain constant observation of high‑risk patients as assigned.
• Assist in creating a safe environment and de‑escalate patients as needed, following training policies.
• Help patients with daily living activities (hygiene, ambulation, meals).
• Assist in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients with proper safety techniques.
