Job summary

Banner Health's University Medical Center South in Tucson seeks a Behavioral Health Specialist for the Geriatric Psych Unit to provide direct patient care at night. You will assist with daily living activities, support nursing staff, and help maintain a safe therapeutic environment.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a behavioral health related field or a high school diploma with 1 year of direct patient care in an inpatient behavioral health setting.
• Experience in inpatient psychiatric facilities or related settings is preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care to psychiatric patients under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Assist with activities of daily living and monitor patient safety and status.
• Review and participate in patient treatment plans and document observations in the medical record.
• Assist in admissions, discharge, and transfer processes and support the treatment milieu.
• Interacts with multidisciplinary team and communicates with patients, families, and staff.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold patient rights and dignity.
• Apply non-violent de-escalation interventions as needed.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in a behavioral health related field

High School diploma or equivalent with 1 year of direct patient care in an inpatient behavioral health setting
