Job summary

Banner University Medical Center - South Campus in Tucson is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist to provide direct patient care on the West DeEx unit. The role supports a hybrid geriatric psychiatry population and collaborates with RNs, physicians, pharmacists and security staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral health field or HS diploma with relevant inpatient behavioral health patient care experience.
• Experience in inpatient psychiatric settings and de-escalation techniques.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Arizona fingerprint clearance card requirements for Banner facilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic nursing care, monitor vitals, and assist with activities of daily living.
• Maintain a safe, orderly and therapeutic environment; monitor patient safety and report changes to staff.
• Assess and interact therapeutically with patients and families; plan group activities.
• Maintain knowledge of behavioral disorders and medications; recognize side effects and reactions.
• Assist in admission, discharge and transfer processes and complete required documentation.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and participate in rounds and hygiene audits.
