Job summary

HDR seeks a Geotechnical Section Leader in Kansas City, MO to guide regional geotechnical practice across projects from transportation to data center facilities. You will lead design, risk management, and technical reviews, building standards and processes while mentoring a team.

Strong leadership and 10+ years in geotechnical engineering are required. As a key HDR partner, you will engage with clients and stakeholders, driving sustainable, safe, and cost-effective solutions, and shaping HDR’s

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field is required.
Master’s degree is preferred for senior leadership roles.
Strong communication and leadership skills plus 10+ years of geotechnical experience.

Responsibilities

Lead geotechnical design and risk reduction strategies for transportation corridors, utilities, water systems, and buildings.
Provide senior technical review of geotechnical reports, deep foundation recommendations, slope stability, and ground improvement designs.
Develop and implement geotechnical standards, workflows, and digital tools; mentor staff across experience levels.
Engage with clients, agencies, and developers to present subsurface risk strategies and project execution capabilities.
