Job summary

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, seeks a Geotechnical Special Project Manager to join our Building & Construction team in Houston, Texas. This role focuses on managing transportation projects from initiation through completion, requiring constant communication with client representatives to define scope, requirements and timelines.

The position reports to the Regional Chief Engineer and involves approximately 15% travel.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• 5+ years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience supporting transportation projects is required.
• Strong experience with geotechnical engineering modeling using FEA software (e.g., Plaxis) is required.
• Proficiency with geotechnical software including GeoStudio, LPILE, GROUP, SHAFT, SLIDE, Settle3D, and MSEW is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical engineering evaluations and analyses using standard engineering principles and design criteria.
• Prepare preliminary geotechnical reports, recommendations, and supporting project documentation.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and technical work plans.
• Prepare work assignments, task orders, and related project deliverables.
• Attend client meetings and coordinate with project stakeholders regarding technical requirements and progress.
• Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
• Manage multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality expectations.
• Conduct site visits, field observations, and inspections as required.
• Maintain compliance with safety policies and quality standards.
• Provide guidance and leadership to on-site team members.
