Job summary

Intertek is seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Project Manager in Charlotte, North Carolina. Lead geotechnical engineering projects, manage budgets, schedules, and staff, and develop new opportunities while ensuring safety and quality in field and lab work.

The role requires a BS in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering, 5+ years of leadership/PM experience in CPT/Geotechnical operations, and a North Carolina P.E. license or ability to obtain.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required.
• 5+ years of experience managing Construction Materials Testing & Geotechnical Engineering operations is required.
• 5+ years of leadership, management, and/or project management experience in Construction Materials Testing & Geotechnical Engineering is required.
• North Carolina P.E. license is required or ability to obtain in state of employment and adjacent states as needed.
• Business development & project proposal creation/management is required.
• Prior personnel management, hiring and training experience is required.
• P&L responsibilities management is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent evaluations using standard techniques and criteria.
• Prepare and review engineering reports, project plans and specifications.
• Assign, track, and manage work/tasks to staff.
• Prepare scopes, budgets, task orders, and schedules for project tasks.
• Prepare proposals to provide professional services.
• Review recommendations with Professional Engineers, Senior Project Managers, & Principal Consultants.
• Maintain client relationships to develop new project opportunities.
• Attend client site meetings and communicate effectively with client and project teams.
• Work on one or multiple projects at a time.
• Train technicians and other staff.
• May perform on-site observations, sample collection, and specific tests.
