Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc. in Glastonbury, CT is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer / Project Manager to lead projects across the region, including residential, commercial, infrastructure, dams, and waterfront development. You will plan, analyze, report, supervise fieldwork, and mentor staff while interfacing with clients and vendors.

The role requires strong geotechnical design and communication skills, plus travel as needed and a commitment to safety and quality in challenging environments.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering with geotechnical coursework.
• 6–12+ years of experience.
• Must have passed the FE exam.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to travel on assignments as needed.
• Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.
• Ability to perform field work on active construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and execute projects.
• Perform geotechnical analysis and design.
• Prepare geotechnical reports.
• Observe and manage field explorations and construction activities.
• Design and implement geotechnical instrumentation projects.
• Assist in preparing full design packages with calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Assist in overseeing construction of specialty geotechnical items such as deep foundations, tiebacks, and grouting.
• Develop proposals and participate in business development activities.
• Communicate directly with clients, contractors, and third-party vendors.
• Train and mentor staff.
