Job summary

GEI Consultants in Wakefield, Massachusetts is seeking a motivated geotechnical professional to join our Wakefield office. You will work on transportation, infrastructure, buildings, dams, and waterfront development projects, gaining wide experience across geotechnical design, field exploration, and construction observation.

The role includes subsurface explorations, lab data interpretation, engineering analyses, and preparing technical memos and specifications.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus.
• MS in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
• 0 to 3+ years of experience.
• Excellent writing and general communication skills.
• Working knowledge of CAD; Civil 3D or GIS a plus.
• Ability to perform field work on construction sites without restrictions, in inclement weather.
• Willingness to travel 25% or more.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Performing geotechnical field explorations and testing.
• Coordinating and interpreting lab test data.
• Developing spreadsheets and databases.
• Performing engineering analysis and calculations.
• Preparing technical memos, reports, and construction specifications.
• Observing and documenting construction activities.
• Preparing and modifying drawings using AutoCad.
