Job summary

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, seeks a Construction Materials Lab Technician I for our Phoenix, AZ team. You will perform geotechnical laboratory tests, document results, and support project teams with soil and material evaluations.

No prior experience is required as thorough training is provided. This on-site role requires attention to detail, good communication, and flexibility for overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
• No experience required; training will be provided.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read and understand work plans, specifications, and instructions.
• Basic math and problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility to work overtime, off-shift, or occasional overnight hours as business needs require.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of geotechnical laboratory tests under direct supervision and established procedures.
• Conduct testing such as Atterberg Limits, Sieve Analysis, Unconfined Compressive Strength, CBR, Swell, and other soil classification and engineering tests.
• Operate laboratory equipment and maintain testing instruments in accordance with company procedures.
• Concrete compressive strength testing.
• Accurately document test data, observations, and results.
• Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to support testing activities.
• Perform calculations and prepare reports using standard laboratory methods and software tools.
• Assist with project-specific observations and site assessment activities as needed.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, clients, and team members.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
