Job summary

Intertek is seeking a Construction Materials Lab Technician I in Phoenix, AZ to support geotechnical laboratory testing, document results, and assist project teams in evaluating soil and material performance.

Training is provided; no experience required. The role offers comprehensive benefits, 401(k) with company match, and opportunities to work on diverse civil and commercial construction projects across 100+ locations.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
• Read and understand work plans, specifications, and instructions.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of geotechnical laboratory tests under direct supervision and established procedures.
• Conduct testing such as Atterberg Limits, Sieve Analysis, Unconfined Compressive Strength, CBR, Swell, and other soil classification and engineering tests.
• Operate laboratory equipment and maintain testing instruments in accordance with company procedures.
• Concrete compressive strength testing.
• Accurately document test data, observations, and results.
• Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to support testing activities.
• Perform calculations and prepare reports using standard laboratory methods and software tools.
• Assist with project-specific observations and site assessment activities as needed.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, clients, and team members.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
