Job summary

Schnabel Engineering’s Glen Allen office seeks a Geotechnical and Materials Construction Project Manager to lead field and laboratory testing, interpret geotechnical data, and manage projects for critical infrastructure. The candidate should have strong communication skills, willingness to travel locally, and a solid background in geotechnical/materials engineering.

The position emphasizes development of both field and analytical skills within a collaborative team of geologists and engineers.

Qualifications

• Experience in field and laboratory testing per AASHTO, ASTM, VDOT and USACOE standards.
• Ability to interpret construction materials data and geotechnical reports.
• Project management experience with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead construction materials testing and inspections for building and infrastructure projects.
• Develop proposals including scope of work and fee estimates.
• Prepare reports on routine testing and evaluation of materials issues.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Interpret soils boring logs, geotechnical reports, and lab data to develop recommendations.
• Coordinate field activities and supervise testing staff.
• Communicate with clients, partners, subconsultants, and Schnabel team members.
