Job summary

STV is seeking an enthusiastic Geotechnical Lab and Field Services Intern to join our team. This hybrid internship is open to undergraduate and graduate-level candidates and requires at least 3 days a week in the office, with preference for at least 3 months.

In this role, you will gain hands-on experience on heavy civil underground structures across the United States, including planning, drilling, laboratory testing, field mapping, and excavation/tunnel mapping for design and construction.

Qualifications

• Pursuing ABET-accredited geotechnical or civil engineering degree.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Willing to travel for drilling operations.
• Team-oriented with a strong desire to learn.

Responsibilities

• Perform soil and rock laboratory testing per AASHTO/ASTM.
• Support geotechnical investigation report deliverables and boring layouts.
• Assist in field materials testing and drilling support.
• Field work in varied weather and terrain with equipment exposure.
• Field activities include slope, excavation, and tunnel mapping.
