Job summary

Bunnell-Lammons Engineering (BLE) seeks a Geotechnical Group Lead to oversee and grow our geotechnical practice in Charlotte, NC. You will provide technical leadership, manage engineers and field staff, and drive complex projects while expanding client relationships.

This leadership role emphasizes project execution, staff development, and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality geotechnical solutions across transportation and infrastructure markets.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Geology, or related field.
• FE certification required; PE licensure pursued preferred.
• 7+ years in construction materials testing; 3+ years in leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and mentor geotechnical engineers, field technicians, and staff on testing procedures and reporting.
• Serve as senior technical advisor for geotechnical investigations, analyses, and design recommendations.
• Oversee project execution, ensuring quality, budget, and schedule performance.
• Develop, mentor, and coach team members for professional growth.
• Identify and pursue business development opportunities within transportation, infrastructure, energy, and industrial markets.
• Cultivate and maintain client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and primary contact.
• Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, and contract documents.
• Collaborate with other discipline leads, PMs, and leadership on multi-disciplinary projects.
• Ensure compliance with safety, standards, and regulatory requirements.
