Job summary

GeoEngineers in Portland, OR is seeking a Staff Geotechnical Engineer to lead field exploration and observation for a variety of projects, with a strong focus on soil conditions and construction-related geotechnical issues.

You will also prepare field reports and perform analyses such as slope stability, bearing capacity, settlement, deep foundation design, and seismic evaluation. A start date in 2027 is preferred, with opportunities to support teams at multiple locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering required; Master’s in Geotechnical or related field strongly preferred.
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification required for Staff Engineers.
• Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work within a team.
• Proven problem solving and strong verbal and written communication skills.
• A valid driver’s license required; one year of driving experience in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Perform field exploration and observation of earthwork and foundation construction to understand soil conditions and geotechnical issues.
• Prepare field reports and perform analyses (slope stability, bearing capacity, settlement, deep foundation design, seismic evaluation).
• Assist with gathering field data and samples and coordinate testing.
• Provide support to geotechnical teams at other locations as needed.
