Job summary

American Engineering Testing (AET) seeks a Field Engineer to assist engineers and technicians on projects, perform field and laboratory testing, and observe construction materials in the field. Travel within the regional area is required; the role emphasizes data accuracy, safety, and collaborative problem solving.

The candidate will support geotechnical investigations, prepare detailed site visit reports, and help maintain the local materials testing laboratory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geological, or related Engineering field.
• 0-3 years of experience in an engineering or science related field.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) and ability to achieve professional registration (PE).
• Internship or previous work experience preferred, but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical field testing according to QA procedures.
• Perform soil laboratory tests according to QA procedures.
• Log/classify soil samples in laboratory or fieldwork, as needed.
• Prepare reports of field and laboratory work, and site visit reports.
• Communicate with clients to determine their project needs.
• Assist in geotechnical investigations including field drilling and laboratory testing.
