Job summary

NV5, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Manager Geotechnical/Construction Materials Engineer in San Diego to lead design and construction inspection and testing projects.

You will manage both technical delivery and client expectations, coordinating with soil/concrete technicians and ICC inspectors. The ideal candidate is a CA-licensed PE with 5+ years of experience in testing and inspection, plus 2+ years in supervision of special inspection services; Caltrans/DSA/HCAI experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering.
• Registered PE in California.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in testing and inspection of construction materials.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in special inspections or supervision of special inspection services. Experience with DSA/HCAI and Caltrans preferred.
• Experience with Caltrans, AASHTO, and ASTM test methods for construction materials.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering manager for laboratory testing and special inspection services on DSA/HCAI, Caltrans, and local jurisdiction projects.
• Plan, assign, and review work of inspectors and technicians to ensure quality and timeliness.
• Review field and laboratory reports, plans, and specifications.
• Manage projects from inception to completion, meeting client expectations on technical quality, budget, and schedule.
• Develop and review technical and cost proposals and deliverables.
• Support business development and new markets in professional services.
