Job summary

NV5, Inc. seeks a Senior Geotechnical/Civil/Materials Engineer to serve as Engineering Manager for design, inspection, and testing projects in Ventura, CA. The role includes project management, client expectations, and leadership of staff across technicians, inspectors, and laboratory personnel.

California P.E. registration is required; DSA/Caltrans experience preferred. Strong problem solving and multi-disciplinary collaboration skills are essential for success in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering required.
• Registered PE in California required.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in testing and inspection of construction materials.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in special inspections or supervision of special inspection services.
• Experience with DSA/HCAI and Caltrans special inspection and materials testing requirements preferred.
• Thorough understanding of building codes and construction industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering management of laboratory testing and inspection services on DSA/HCAI, Caltrans and local projects.
• Plan, assign, evaluate, and review work of inspectors, technicians, and support staff.
• Review field and laboratory reports and plans/specifications.
• Manage projects from inception to completion, meeting client expectations, budget, and schedule.
• Support recruitment, training, mentoring, and development of department staff.
• Develop and review proposals, deliverables, and client development activities.
