Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead subsurface investigation programs and oversee geotechnical analyses for infrastructure projects from tunnel and bridges to highways. Based in Portland, OR, you will collaborate with the Geotechnical & Tunneling Team to deliver results for clients across the US.

You will mentor staff, manage budgets and schedules, and coordinate with professionals from multiple disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • 10+ years of geotechnical engineering experience.
  • US PE registration with ability to obtain state licensures via reciprocity.
  • Extensive design/construction experience for highway, bridge, building, or underground projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills with clients, regulators and team members.
  • Ability to travel and perform field work occasionally.
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors and directing tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, multi-task, and adhere to QA/QC and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage geotechnical subsurface investigation programs.
  • Lead geotechnical engineering analysis and design for infrastructure projects across the US and locally.
  • Develop and review geotechnical memoranda, data reports, and design reports.
  • Develop and review plans, specifications, cost estimates, and other contract documents.
  • Manage projects and task orders, budgets, hours and expenses, and supervise subcontractors and staff.
  • Apply high-level geotechnical techniques to improve project phases from concept to operation.
  • Provide support during construction.
  • Mentor staff for growth and professional development.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on public/private projects and opportunities.
  • Develop geotechnical work in the Pacific Northwest and across the US.
  • Uphold ethical decision-making and WSP policies.
