The Hecla Mining Company is offering a 2027 Geotechnical Engineering Internship in Alaska. The intern will monitor seismic activity, assist in ground support projects, and perform rock bolt pull testing in an active underground mine.

Internship runs from May to September 1, 2027, with safety training provided on day one and housing available. Applicants must be enrolled in a relevant geotechnical-related program and able to pass pre-employment drug testing.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Fall 2026 in geotechnical engineering, mining engineering, geology, or a related field.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform monitoring and reporting on seismic activity.
• Participate in ground support projects and rock bolt pull testing.
• Conduct fieldwork in underground mining environments.
• Safety-first approach with site and equipment inspections.
