Job summary

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated staff geotechnical engineer to support surface mining, mine waste storage and heavy civil infrastructure design as part of the growing AECOM Mining Division. The candidate will have broad experience in supporting surface mining operations and the design and evaluation of waste rock storage and tailings facilities.

The role requires planning and performing geotechnical exploration, analyses and reporting, with about 30% travel.

Qualifications

• BA/BS + 4 yrs of relevant experience or equivalent.
• MA/MS Civil Engineering preferred.
• PE license or ability to obtain within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Performs specific and moderate portions of broader assignments
• Plans directs and performs specific and/or moderate portions of mid- to large, complex projects under the supervision of an experienced senior engineer.
• Plans, implements, performs and oversees geotechnical exploration and laboratory testing programs (30% travel/field time)
• Plans, oversees geotechnical evaluations including material characterization, liquefaction, seepage, slope stability, and settlement analyses
• Prepares and reviews calculation packages
• Assisting with the development of geotechnical reports, drawings and specifications
• Preparing and presenting technical presentations of evaluation results to internal and client teams
• Review of geotechnical instrumentation and preparation of instrumentation monitoring reports
