Job summary

AECOM is seeking a staff geotechnical engineer to support surface mining, mine waste storage and heavy civil design within the Mining Division. You will contribute to exploration, testing, reporting and presentations across projects.

Requirements include a BA/BS with 4+ years of experience or equivalent, a valid US driver’s license, and PE licensure or eligibility within 1 year. Proficiency with GeoStudio, Grapher and AutoCAD Civil3D is preferred.

Qualifications

• BA/BS + 4 yrs of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
• PE license or able to obtain within 1 year.
• MA/MS Civil Engineering (preferred).
• Proficient in GeoStudio, Grapher and AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Mine waste materials characterization experience.
• Field/Construction experience; tailings or dams experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs specific and moderate portions of broader assignments.
• Plans, directs and performs portions of mid- to large- and complex projects under supervision.
• Plans and oversees geotechnical exploration and laboratory testing (30% travel).
• Performs geotechnical evaluations including material characterization, liquefaction, seepage, slope stability, and settlement analyses.
• Prepares and reviews calculation packages.
• Assists with development of geotechnical reports, drawings and specifications.
• Presents evaluation results to internal and client teams.
