Job Description:

  1. Serve as technical lead on full-service design and construction services for geotechnical and geo-environmental engineering aspects of remediation and mining projects including landfills, slurry walls, sheet pile walls, sediment dredging, sediment capping, solidification and stabilization of contaminated soils and sludge, lagoon closures, industrial waste impoundments and mine site remediation.
  2. Plan, schedule and conduct or coordinate field data collection investigations and laboratory studies and testing for a wide range of project types and in various geologic settings and site conditions.
  3. Scope, direct, and review geotechnical engineering analyses and reporting for moderate to complex geotechnical and geo-environmental projects.
  4. Lead the civil design of geotechnical and geo-environmental projects including drawings and specifications, bid packages, cost estimates and other contract documents for subcontractors.
  5. Lead engineering oversight services during investigations and during remedial construction.
  6. Prepare scope, schedules, and budgets for proposals.
  7. Work as an integrated member of a multi-disciplined team on complex remediation and civil works projects.
  8. Demonstrate excellent writing and communications skills and ability to work with clients in the public and private sectors.
  9. Provide oversight, direction, and mentoring to junior engineers, geologists, and technicians.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Mining or Geologic Engineering or related discipline.
  2. Professional engineering (PE) license.
  3. 12 years of related experience.
  4. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
  5. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Master's degree in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical Engineering emphasis.
  2. High level technical proficiency with remedial design of environmentally impacted sites, CERCLA Superfund sites, landfills, solid/liquid waste impoundments, containment berms and mining closure sites.
  3. Demonstrated experience working with other environmental professionals such as Geologists, Hydrogeologists, Environmental Scientists, Environmental Chemists and Geochemists.
  4. Familiarity with Environmental regulations and requirements at the federal and state levels (CERCLA, RCRA, and TSCA).
  5. Experience with specialized geotechnical engineering software such as GeoStudio, PLAXIS, LPILE, Leapfrog, gINT, and Open Ground.
  6. Knowledge of geosynthetic applications and experience with design and installation of geosynthetics in geo-environmental and solid/liquid waste impoundment projects is a plus.
  7. OSHA HAZWOPER (40-Hour) training, current OSHA 8-Hour refresher certificate, or other certifications for working on CERCLA, RCRA and TSCA sites.
  8. Working knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

  1. Expert Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
  2. Expert Knowledge of engineer principles of design.
  3. Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.).
  4. Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  5. Expert knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.
