Job summary

KBR Wyle Services, LLC seeks a Software Engineer 3 to support geospatial data processing, storage, and distribution for USGS Science projects. You will work with Enterprise Architects and software engineers to design, develop and deploy large-scale applications and infrastructure, ensuring SDLC compliance and security.

The role emphasizes Python data workflows, JavaScript UI development (Node.js/React), database optimization, and preparing design specifications for enterprise systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field with 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate related work experience.
• Experience designing, developing, and deploying large-scale geospatial applications with focus on scalability, performance and security.
• Experience developing and optimizing Python data processing workflows and creating interactive web interfaces using JavaScript (Node.js and React).
• Experience relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) including queries and optimization; deployments, automation scripting, and Unix/Linux troubleshooting.
• Experience deploying containerized apps, securing APIs, and planning for future cloud architectures.

Responsibilities

• Support geospatial data processing, storage and distribution for USGS Science projects.
• Lead, communicate, and coordinate activities and status with enterprise architects and software engineers.
• Analyze system and user requirements to define software requirements and develop estimates.
• Create and troubleshoot databases capable of processing large information with security in mind.
• Integrate Apache Airflow into data processing systems to improve Python workflows and design geospatial processing systems.
