Job summary

KBR, Inc. is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to join a team building cutting-edge web-based mapping tools for science projects like wildland fire management and drought monitoring.

You will develop and maintain geospatial web apps, scripts, and data products using PHP, Python, JavaScript, and SQL. The role supports a hybrid remote/onsite work arrangement in Sioux Falls, SD, with potential for full remote consideration for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or computer science.
• 3–5 years of recent related work experience.
• Experience with web design, administration, and database-driven applications.
• Proficiency in JavaScript frameworks (React, jQuery, OpenLayers, Leaflet) and HTML/CSS.
• Experience with Python and PHP.
• Experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL databases.
• Familiarity with security concepts and collaboration tools.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of software engineering methodology and processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain websites and mapping applications for visualizing and distributing geospatial data.
• Develop Python scripts that produce geospatial data products.
• Support technologies including PHP, Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and XML.
• Interact with a web development team that supports the USGS EROS Integrated Science Applications Branch.
