Job summary

SAM is seeking a field technician to support geospatial fieldwork, identifying utilities and control points on plans and in the field. You will operate various surveying tools and a vacuum truck, while adhering to safety and traffic control plans.

Qualifications

Must have a valid driver's license and ability to meet MVR standards.
Ability to travel for extended periods.
Work outdoors under variable weather conditions throughout all seasons.
Walk extended distances over uneven terrain while handling geophysical and surveying equipment.
Able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs for short distances and assist others.
Remove/replace manhole lids and covers weighing up to 50 lbs with assistance.

Responsibilities

Assist in identifying marked utilities, structures and control points on plans and in the field.
Perform operator level maintenance on assigned tools and equipment.
Assist in implementing approved traffic control plans.
Develop skills in the certification program for advancement.
Record data of marked utilities and points in the field using equipment.
Operate vacuum truck and related tools and equipment.
Drive commercial motor vehicles.
Take on additional tasks as assigned.
