Job summary

SAM is the nation’s leading geospatial solutions and inspection service provider, recruiting a Geomatics Instrument Operator to support field crews with land survey instruments and data collection. You will help perform field surveys under a Crew Chief and ensure accurate data gathering and basic computations.

The role requires a high school diploma, about one year of industry experience, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather and terrain.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• One year industry experience.
• Knowledgeable in basic survey types, computations, and field operations.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather and terrain.
• Able to travel to remote locations for extended periods.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet MVR standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of land survey instruments to support field crews.
• Assist in completing field surveys under supervision.
• Run operation, checks and basic adjustments of survey equipment.
• Use survey controllers and software to collect geospatial data.
• Read and interpret maps and plans.
• Maintain neat field notes and report progress to the Crew Chief.
• Load and unload survey gear; maintain equipment and vehicle.
• Adhere to company safety procedures for field operations.
