Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan is seeking an Engineering Specialist II - Geomechanical for our Bagdad, AZ operations. You will provide technical guidance across geomechanical projects, manage small-to-medium site work, and help budget and plan capital funding.

Under general supervision, you’ll review, investigate, and develop engineering recommendations, evaluate vendor contracts, and collaborate with site teams to ensure timely, cost-conscious delivery. Prior engineering experience is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus seven years engineering experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline with three years engineering experience.
• Ability to manage projects, review technical analyses, and provide guidance across geomechanical projects.
• Strong collaboration with site teams, budgeting, and vendor contract evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice and guidance for geomechanical engineering projects from inception to completion.
• Serve as project manager or technical advisor on small-to-medium site construction, expansion, or modification projects.
• Review and develop recommendations for engineering projects; evaluate vendor contracts for services and equipment.
• Collaborate in site strategic planning and budgeting for designated engineering areas.
• Assist in developing Appropriation Requests for capital funding.
