Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan in Bagdad, AZ is seeking a geomechanical engineer to lead technical efforts across site modernization and expansion projects.

Under general supervision, you will provide guidance on geomechanical studies, review and develop recommendations, manage small-to-medium construction efforts, and collaborate on budgeting and capital funding requests. A strong background in rock mechanics and dewatering is preferred.

What You Will Do

Under general supervision, provide technical advice and guidance for all phases of assigned geomechanical engineering projects and programs, ensuring successful completion within appropriate timeframes and cost parameters. Review, investigate, and develop recommendations for engineering projects. Serve as Project Manager or technical advisor on small-to-medium site construction, expansion, or modification projects. Evaluate and administer vendor contracts for services and equipment. Collaborate in site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated engineering areas. Assist in developing and evaluating Appropriation Requests (AR) for capital funding. Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport

• High School Diploma or GED and seven (7) years of engineering experience; OR
• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline and three (3) years of engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications

Slope monitoring, dewatering and rock mechanics experience

What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $87,500-$120,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
