Job summary

Exponent is seeking a Geologist (MS/PhD) for its Civil & Structural Engineering Practice in Los Angeles, CA or Oakland, CA. The role focuses on engineering geology, remote sensing, GIS, mapping, and geophysics to investigate failures in geotechnical systems and assess natural hazards.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, providing technically challenging services and opportunities for growth, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and professional development.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in geological sciences with focus on Engineering Geology or equivalent.
• M.S. in geological sciences with specialization in Engineering Geology plus 5 years' experience acceptable.
• Ability to become a licensed Geologist or Geophysicist in at least one state within three years.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections and subsurface explorations to determine failure causes.
• Evaluate site conditions for root-cause analyses and mitigation design.
• Create geospatial models including GIS and subsurface models.
• Create topographic and thematic maps for projects.
• Assist with peer review of geologic and geotechnical documents.
