Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old at time of hire.
• Be a junior or senior enrolled in high school during the 2026–2027 school year.
• Must attach a Letter of Recommendation from your school's co-op coordinator, career counselor, or similar official.
• Minors must submit a Work Permit on acceptance of this position.
• Agree to participate in the Commonwealth Training Plan, Statement of Responsibilities, and Student Performance Evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Sample Assistance: Help collect and prepare rock, soil, and mineral samples.
• Lab Skills: Learn basic laboratory steps such as rock preparation, mineral identification, and data logging.
• Archive Learning: Explore the core library and learn how geologic records are organized.
• Outreach Support: Create educational materials and displays for public events.
• Geology Basics: Build a foundation in rock types, geologic maps, and Pennsylvania geology.
