Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Data Scientist SME to join the Chinook Program supporting our Intelligence Community customer. You will turn complex datasets into actionable intelligence and lead advanced analytics on geospatial data.

You will mentor junior staff, work with engineers and analysts, and help deploy scalable ML models in cloud environments while maintaining rigorous documentation. This role requires US citizenship and TS/SCI poly clearance and involves collaborating across multiple geographic

Qualifications

• US citizenship required per contract.
• Bachelor's degree in DS/CS/Geospatial with 12–15 yrs exp or Master's with 10–13 yrs.
• 10+ years professional data science experience.
• 5+ years GEOINT or geospatial data analysis.
• Proven ML/AI model development for geospatial/remotes sensing.
• Deep knowledge of geospatial analytics tools (GIS, ArcGIS).
• Proficiency in Python with Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch.
• Experience with Spark, PySpark, Kafka, Hadoop, AWS or Azure.
• Experience with geospatial data formats GeoTIFF, Shapefiles; libraries GeoPandas, Rasterio, GDAL.
• Experience developing AI/ML models for geospatial data (e.g., object detection from satellite imagery).
• Strong data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI).
• Leadership and collaboration with government officials and technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical SME in data science and geospatial analytics.
• Lead design and development of ML models for large multi-source geospatial data.
• Apply GEOINT knowledge to improve data-driven decisions.
• Provide strategic guidance on ML/AI and cloud platforms to improve workflows.
• Mentor junior data scientists and analysts.
• Collaborate with GEOINT analysts, program managers, engineers, and stakeholders.
• Conduct applied research on new data science techniques and trends.
• Oversee deployment and operationalization of models to deliver actionable insights.
• Maintain documentation for reproducibility and training.
