Job summary

Waterman Infrastructure & Environment is seeking a Geo-Environmental Engineer to join the team in Manchester, UK. This full-time, permanent role supports a range of geo-environmental projects and involves supervising ground investigations, desk studies, soil logging, sampling, and preparing reports.

The successful candidate will contribute to remediation design, understand planning legislation, and travel to other UK sites as required within a multi-disciplinary consultancy.

Qualifications

• BSc or equivalent in Geology, Environmental Science or similar.
• Working towards membership of a relevant professional body with a longer-term goal to move toward chartership with a relevant institution.
• Basic knowledge of planning legislation.
• Experience of site inspections and reporting.
• Able to complete interpretative assessments to a basic level.
• Able to deliver projects and work within a multi-disciplinary consultancy.
• Track record in managing time and resources effectively and within budget.
• In possession of full UK driving license.

Responsibilities

• Supporting geo-environmental projects for external clients and internal teams.
• Supervising ground investigations.
• Preparing Preliminary Risk Assessments (Desk studies).
• Soil logging to current UK standards and laboratory scheduling.
• Completing soil sampling, water monitoring and sampling.
• Writing interpretative ground investigation reports.
• Input to remediation works and geotechnical design.
• Knowledge of contaminated land legislation and reporting requirements.
• Travel to other offices and sites within the UK as needed.
