Job summary

Illumina seeks a talented scientist for the Assay Research and Development group in San Diego to design and execute experiments for new sequencing library preparation assays that meet high performance and robustness.

You will design experiments, collect data, analyze results, and participate on product development teams, applying molecular biology and biochemistry techniques to advance genomic solutions for customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
• Experience designing complex experiments with appropriate controls.
• Strong ability to collaborate across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Designs and performs experiments across varying complexity and techniques.
• Records detailed technical observations in lab notebooks and confluence pages.
• Plans, conducts, summarizes, reports consistent conclusions, and generates recommendations for follow-up experiments.
• Takes responsibility for data quality and improves data collection procedures.
