Job summary

ABACUS is seeking a Generator Service Technician in Houston to manage whole-home generator troubleshooting, routine maintenance, and on-site repairs. You will diagnose electrical and mechanical issues, perform component replacements, and respond to emergency service calls to minimize downtime for clients.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, Generac certifications (air- and liquid-cooled), a valid Texas driver’s license, and the ability to lift 75 pounds, with a focus on safety

Qualifications

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License.
• Able to lift over 75 pounds and work in summer heat.
• Background in electrical or mechanical maintenance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform service on whole-home standby generator equipment (residential).
• Conduct routine maintenance: oil/filter changes, coolant flushes, battery checks.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot generator malfunctions—electrical and mechanical.
• Respond to emergency service calls and resolve issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with clients, dispatch, managers and team members to ensure satisfaction.
• Stay updated with industry advancements and best practices in generator maintenance.
• Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
