Job summary

PowerSecure in Durham, NC is seeking a field and factory inspector/test technician to perform inspections and functional testing on generator systems, ensuring compliance with electrical codes and safe energization on-site.

You will document test results, interpret electrical schematics, work with PPE, operate forklifts, and support project teams. Minimum two years of relevant experience or apprenticeship, NFPA70E, and ability to read manuals are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; related experience accepted
• NFPA70E certification or ability to obtain via employer
• Ability to read safety rules, manuals and written directions
• Ability to document test results and specs
• Ability to perform unit conversions for splice plate length and voltage/amperage ratios
• Must wear PPE
• Minimum 2 years of experience with switchgear/electrical/generator systems (apprenticeship exempt)
• Engineering or programming experience may substitute for specific experience

Responsibilities

• Locate and track documentation for specific jobs
• Run procedural tests and inspections for gear types
• Load files and test sequences per project CD notes
• Record test results and component specs
• Move gear with forklift or pallet jack
• Remove/install panels up to 50 lb
• Other duties as assigned
