The Generator Field Service Technician is responsible for on-site troubleshooting, repair, warranty/campaign service, preventative maintenance, and equipment modifications of Generac industrial products. This role requires 100% travel with a fleet vehicle provided; overnight travel is not expected. Overtime may be required during storms or outages beyond the scheduled on-call hours.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Mechanical design, AC/DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, connection diagrams, and control systems
  • Electrical distribution and transfer switch system components and operation
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, ability to work independently, often outdoors in adverse weather
  • Electronics and Electromechanical Technology experience
  • Power generation knowledge, including light towers
  • Internal combustion engine knowledge (spark-ignited and compression ignition)
Qualifications by Technician Level:
Level I:
  • High School Diploma
  • 2-3 years experience with Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS)
Preferred:
  • Associate Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 4 years experience with EPSS
Level II:
  • High School Diploma
  • 4 years experience with EPSS
Preferred:
  • Associate Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 6 years experience with EPSS
Level III:
  • High School Diploma
  • 6 years experience with EPSS
Preferred:
  • Associate Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 8 years experience with EPSS
Master Technician:
  • High School Diploma, Generac Master Certification or equivalent
  • 8+ years in advanced troubleshooting of EPSS
Preferred:
  • Associate Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 10-15 years in advanced troubleshooting of EPSS
