Qualifications

Job description

The Generator Field Service Technician is responsible for providing on-site troubleshooting, repair, warranty/campaign service, preventative maintenance, and equipment modifications of Generac industrial products. This position requires 100% travel; fleet vehicle provided. No overnight travel is anticipated. Overtime is not promised or required, but during mass storms and outages, management may require additional help for after-hours calls beyond the standing on-call schedule.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Working knowledge of mechanical design, AC and DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, connection diagrams, and control systems
  2. Understanding of components and operation of electrical distribution and transfer switch systems
  3. Excellent troubleshooting skills, ability to make independent decisions, and work with minimal supervision, even in occasionally adverse outdoor weather conditions
  4. Experience in Electronics and Electromechanical Technology
  5. Knowledge of power generation; light tower products
  6. Understanding of Spark Ignited and Compression ignition internal combustion engines

Technical Field Service Representative Level I:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • 2 - 3 years servicing and troubleshooting Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 4 years servicing and troubleshooting EPSS

Technical Field Service Representative Level II:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • 4 years servicing and troubleshooting EPSS

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 6 years servicing and troubleshooting EPSS

Technical Field Service Representative Level III:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • 6 years servicing and troubleshooting EPSS

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 8 years servicing and troubleshooting EPSS

Master Field Service Technician:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, Generac Master Certification or equivalent
  • 8 years in advanced troubleshooting EPSS

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 10-15 years in advanced troubleshooting EPSS

Physical Demands: The employee must frequently stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with assistance. The role requires manual dexterity, visual acuity, and compliance with PPE requirements such as safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and safety shoes.
