Amazon in Arlington, VA is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to help shape the next generation of Amazon Q. You will own meaningful features from design through production, collaborating with engineers, product managers, applied scientists, and UX partners to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable systems.

Competenze

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture of new and existing systems.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.

• Build customer-facing Amazon Q capabilities and backend services; connect foundation models with AWS knowledge, context, and tools.
• Solve complex engineering problems in generative AI, distributed systems, grounding, retrieval, and agentic workflows.
• Own features and services through their lifecycle from requirements to deployment and operations.
• Contribute to system architecture and design decisions, ensuring scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
• Operate reliable production systems with strong testing, observability, and incident response practices.
