Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. seeks a Software Development Engineer to build the next generation of Amazon Q.

You will work at the intersection of generative AI, agentic systems, and large-scale distributed services, translating customer needs into scalable technical solutions. You will own features from design through production, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and continuously improve reliability, performance, and quality of the systems you own.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience on large-scale systems.
• 1+ years of software development engineer experience.
• 1+ years designing and developing multi-tier distributed software using C#/C++/Java/Perl.
• 1+ years of object oriented design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in CS/Engineering/Math.
• Experience programming with at least one programming language.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test and launch customer-facing Amazon Q capabilities and backend services.
• Solve complex engineering problems in generative AI and distributed systems.
• Own features from requirements to deployment and operations.
• Contribute to system architecture and design trade-offs for scalable, secure solutions.
• Build reliable production systems with testing, observability, and incident response.
• Collaborate with engineers, scientists, PMs, and partner teams to advance AI in production.
