Job summary

HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital in Port Charlotte, FL seeks a General Surgery Residency Program Director to establish and lead the new General Surgery residency program. The Program Director will oversee the program's organization, operation, standards, and quality, guiding its integration with hospital services and medical practices to enhance graduate medical education.

The ideal candidate is Board Certified in General Surgery with a minimum of three years of core faculty or associate program

Qualifications

• Board Certified in General Surgery.
• Minimum of three years’ experience as physician core faculty or associate program director in an ACGME accredited General Surgery residency program.
• The Program Director must possess the required specialty expertise, as well as documented educational and administrative abilities, to carry out the responsibilities of the role and to achieve the goals and objectives of the program
• Must participate in ongoing scholarly activity, including peer-reviewed publications
• Schedule: 50% clinical (some night and weekend coverage) and 50% GME focused

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, organization, operation and general administration of the General Surgery residency program.
• Lead strategic direction of the program and uphold standards, quality and reputation.
• Integrate the residency program with hospital clinical services and physician practices to enhance value and quality.
• Promote graduate medical education and ensure ongoing scholarly activity within the program.
