Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN is seeking a Physician Assistant to support weekend staffing on a hospitalist service. You’ll perform rounding, handle new consults, manage assigned patients, and prepare discharge orders under physician supervision.

You’ll collaborate with the hospital team, participate in care coordination, and contribute to a high-quality patient experience while working a weekend/PRN schedule.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire date or transfer date is required.
• Physician Assistant credentialed from the Tennessee Committee on Physicians Assistants prior to hire date or transfer date is required.
• Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program. Master’s degree preferred.
• 1 year of experience in a related role is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform rounding and assessments during rounds.
• Manage assigned patients and conduct new consults.
• Prepare and execute discharge orders and notes.
• Collaborate with hospital teams and frequent interaction with hospitalists.

Education

Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program

BLS Provider certification

Schedule: Weekend mainly, PRN

Position Highlights

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Working 8-9 hour Saturday and Sunday (on occasion helping fill in for vacations during the week)

• Working with General Surgeon on call with hospital patients

• Manages assigned patients; performs new consults; Assessments during rounding

• Prepare and execute discharge orders and notes

• Collaboration with other services and frequent interaction with hospitalist

• 407 beds, this regional referral center features a modern facility built in 2010 and a newly-renovated 16 operating room suite

• The hospital is centrally located in the fastest growing county in the state of Tennessee on a beautiful 68-acre campus on the bustling âMedical Center Parkwayâ corridor with convenient access to dining and shopping areas

• The hospital campus is currently undergoing a $110M expansion project, which includes the addition of 36 new high acuity beds, a parking garage dedicated to hospital employees and physicians, 18 new critical care unit beds, six additional NICU bassinets, 17 new post-surgery bays

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• Physician Assistant credentialed from the Tennessee Committee on Physicians Assistants obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program. Master's degree preferred.

Work Experience:

• 1 year of experience preferred.
