Job summary

Ascension Seton Medical Center in Austin, TX is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join the Spine Surgery team. You will evaluate pre- and postoperative spine patients in the clinic and hospital, and you will first assist in the operating room.

You will join an established team of surgeons and APPs with a full-time schedule and weekend call. Competitive CME incentives and comprehensive benefits accompany this role.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire date.
• Licensed Physician Assistant credentialed from the Texas Medical Board.
• Certified Physician Assistant credentialed from NCCPA.
• Advanced Life Support preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services under a physician.
• Obtain patient history and perform assessments.
• Order, perform and interpret diagnostic procedures.
• Provide and document direct treatment and management of health conditions.
• Counsel and educate patients and families about preventative health and treatment options.
• Perform preventative health assessments, screenings and immunizations.

Education

Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program

Master's degree preferred

How you'll make an impact in this role

As a PA or NP in Spine Surgery, you will work closely with the surgeons to evaluate pre-operative and post-operative spine surgery patients in the clinic and the hospital, as well as first assist in the operating room.

Join an established team of 5 surgeons and 10 APPs

Call structure: 1/8 weekend call requirement with call pay

Practice setting: mix of both inpatient and outpatient

Responsibilities

• Provide direct diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services under the supervision of a physician.
• Obtain patient history and performs assessment.
• Order, perform and interpret diagnostic procedures.
• Provide and document direct treatment and management of health conditions.
• Provide counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
• Perform preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and care.

What minimum qualifications you'll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Physician Assistant credentialed from the Texas Medical Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Certified Physician Assistant credentialed from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Master's degree preferred.

Work Experience

• 1 year of experience preferred.

What additional preferences you'll need

• Acute Care Certification preferred and RNFA required for all NP applicants.
