Job description

An established general contractor is seeking an experienced General Superintendent to take a senior field leadership role on the delivery of a major $700M data center project in Texas.

This individual will have overall responsibility for field operations, providing leadership across multiple Superintendents, trade partners and work packages while ensuring the project is delivered safely, on schedule and to the required quality standards.

This is a major leadership position on a large and technically complex mission critical project and requires someone who has previously led field operations on significant data center, advanced technology or similarly complex construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and direction for field operations across the project
• Lead and manage the Superintendent team across multiple areas, buildings, disciplines and work packages
• Take ownership of the overall construction sequence and execution strategy
• Work closely with the Project Executive, Project Director and project management team to drive successful project delivery
• Develop and maintain short-term and long-term construction plans in alignment with the master schedule
• Coordinate civil, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical construction activities across the site
• Lead coordination between field operations, MEP, VDC, commissioning, safety, quality and project controls teams
• Manage trade partner performance and ensure adequate manpower, supervision and resources are available to meet project requirements
• Identify potential schedule constraints and develop recovery plans where required
• Lead site logistics, phasing, sequencing and major construction activities
• Ensure work is being installed in accordance with drawings, specifications and project quality requirements
• Maintain a strong safety culture across the project and hold project teams and trade partners accountable to required standards
• Lead field coordination meetings and communicate project priorities across the wider construction team
• Drive accountability across Superintendents and trade partners for schedule, quality, safety and productivity
• Support procurement and planning of long-lead equipment and critical construction activities
• Coordinate closely with MEP and commissioning leadership as the project progresses through installation, start-up, testing and turnover
• Build strong relationships with the client, design team, trade partners and wider project stakeholders
• Mentor and develop Superintendents and other members of the field leadership team
• Support project closeout, commissioning and final turnover to the client

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in construction field leadership, including previous experience as a General Superintendent or Senior Superintendent
• Proven experience leading large and complex construction projects
• Data center or mission critical construction experience strongly preferred
• Experience managing multiple Superintendents and large trade partner teams
• Strong understanding of civil, structural, architectural and MEP construction
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, logistics and field planning
• Experience working on projects with significant mechanical and electrical scopes
• Ability to understand and drive complex construction schedules
• Strong understanding of safety, quality and commissioning requirements
• Experience taking projects from early construction through completion and turnover
• Ability to identify field constraints and make decisions quickly to maintain project progress
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage large project teams
• Comfortable working directly with senior project leadership, clients and major trade partners
• Data center, semiconductor, advanced technology, healthcare or other technically complex project experience may also be considered
