Job Title: General Production Worker

Job Description

This role involves moving products through the production process, performing packaging and mechanical assembly tasks, and supporting multiple production lines as needed in a high-volume manufacturing environment. You will work on your feet for the entire shift, use hand and measuring tools, and help maintain consistent production quality and output in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Move products efficiently through various stages of the production process to support continuous workflow.
• Perform mechanical assembly tasks using hand tools and measuring tools according to production specifications.
• Operate or assist with machine operation as needed to support different production lines.
• Conduct loading, packing, and general labor tasks to prepare products for shipping and receiving.
• Work as part of an assembly line team, completing one specific operation before passing the product to the next station.
• Install components such as slides, shelves, and other parts on steel cabinets and containers following instructions and blueprints where applicable.
• Inspect products during and after assembly to ensure they meet quality and production standards.
• Measure and verify parts using tape measures and other measuring tools to maintain accuracy.
• Lift and move materials and products weighing up to 50 lbs throughout the shift.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all facility guidelines and procedures.
• Support different production lines as needed to meet changing production demands.
• Stand for extended periods, up to 10 hours per day, while performing repetitive production tasks.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform mechanical assembly tasks.
• Experience using hand tools and measuring tools, including tape measures.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Comfort working in a team-based assembly line environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely and repeatedly.
• Capability to stand on your feet for up to 10 hours per day.
• Previous manufacturing experience.
• Basic understanding of machine operation and general labor tasks.
• Ability to read and follow instructions and, where applicable, blueprints.
• Strong attention to detail for inspection and quality checks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with packing, shipping, and receiving processes.
• Familiarity with working on multi-person assembly lines handling single operations.
• Comfort working with steel products such as cabinets and containers.

Work Environment

You will work in a large manufacturing facility with more than 120 people on site. The production floor operates in an assembly line environment where each product may involve 5 to 15 people on a line, with each person performing a specific operation before passing the item to the next station. The company manufactures steel cabinets and containers, and you will handle components and finished products that can weigh up to 50 lbs. The role requires standing for long periods, up to 10 hours per day, and working at a steady pace to keep up with fast production demands. You will use hand tools, tape measures, and other basic equipment in a busy, team-oriented setting focused on efficiency and consistent output.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middletown, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
