Job summary

Target is seeking a General Merchandise Team Leader in New Jersey to oversee daily operations, lead a team of hourly associates, and drive sales through effective merchandising and customer service. You will coach staff, manage workloads, and ensure adherence to company policies.

Qualified candidates bring leadership experience in retail, a high school diploma, and a commitment to delivering outstanding guest experiences.

Qualifications

Guest service fundamentals and experience building a guest-first culture on your team.
Retail business fundamentals, including department sales trends and inventory management.
Leading a team to plan workload and achieve sales goals with guidance from leadership.
Coaching hourly team members to develop skills and retain talent.
Ability to onboard and close skill gaps through development and coaching.

Responsibilities

Deliver guest experience commitments to create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly experience.
Ensure team members are trained and consistently deliver on Target guest experience commitments.
Observe, provide feedback and coach team to improve guest experience and outcomes.
Lead daily/weekly workload to meet department and store goals and manage merchandising tasks.
Educate team on procedures affecting inventory, profitability, and product availability.
Assign daily tasks to team members and coordinate with leaders on priorities.
Support back-up cashier duties and fulfillment while maintaining compliance with laws.
Lead safety culture and ensure a compliant, safe workplace.
