Arconic Davenport Works is seeking applicants for a General Mechanic Apprenticeship. The program leads to Journey-Level status after completing IDP and journey-level testing, with classroom and on-the-job training.
Apprentices must work a 24x7 alternate schedule, including off-shifts, and agree to a Repayment Agreement of three years after program completion. A hands-on training pathway and progression to a fully qualified maintenance mechanic are provided.
The General Mechanic Apprenticeship at Arconic Davenport Works is a developmental position with a career path to becoming a qualified Journey-Level General Mechanic.Candidates will enter a General Mechanic Training Program which will include both classroom and on-the-job training.To move to Journey-Level General Mechanic, successful candidates will be required to complete an Individual Development Plan (IDP) and pass journey-level testing requirements.
Pass six months of probation. Attend and maintain grades for all classes that the individual is enrolled in. Complete IDP (individual development plan), and by the end of the program take and pass the Journey Level General Mechanic Exam. After that the responsibilities of a General Mechanic are as follows. A Maintenance General Mechanic performs the following job duties:
1. Must have a high school diploma or GED2. Must have one or more of the following. a. Previous completion of a Millwright Apprenticeship and/or received an associate degree in Mechanical Technology or related field. b. Completion of a certified mechanical program, transcripts showing completion of mechanical classes, or other mechanical certifications c. Previous work experience in a mechanical field d. Must have previous work experience.3. Pass the General Mechanic Apprentice pre-employment test.4. Must pass the physical and drug screening test post offer of employment. 5. Must be able to work off shifts and weekends.6. Must be able to work 12-hour workdays / some overtime is required.7. This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. 730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
