Job summary

Arconic is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the Davenport, IA Hot Rolling Department. You will coordinate capital projects, mentor engineers, and work with a cross-functional team to improve equipment reliability and process performance.

The role is daytime, with potential off-shift support for projects and the Lead Electrical Engineer reporting line.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution or related degree with 3+ years of experience.
  • 3–6 years of Electrical Engineering experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience designing, installing, maintaining electromechanical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all phases of assigned electrical engineering projects from concept to closure.
  • Lead problem solving with multi-discipline teams and maintenance staff.
  • Analyze process issues using PI Vision and Data Link; propose solutions.
  • Develop electrical control solutions to improve reliability and performance.
  • Assist production with equipment and process issues; mentor others.
  • Redesign and upgrade PLC/HMI controls for existing processes.
  • Install and troubleshoot camera systems on industrial equipment.
  • Incorporate SMART Manufacturing principles into inspection systems.

Arconic is currently in search of an Electrical Engineer to join our Hot Rolling Department based in our Davenport, IA location.

Job Summary

This Electrical Engineer is a great opportunity to apply your technical skills while coordinating numerous capital projects across the Plate department from start to finish. This role is driven by self-directed work and collaborative efforts with a team of Electrical Engineers, Technical staff, maintenance, and production across the department. As a seasoned Electrical Engineer, you will serve as a mentor to other Engineers, including new hires and interns.

The Electrical Engineer reports to the Lead Electrical Engineer in the department and will work Monday through Friday during daytime hours. You will support off-shifts as needed for your respective projects.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Coordinate all phases of assigned area electrical engineering projects from concept, scope development, written specifications, bid solicitations, design, manufacturing, equipment commissioning, and project closure.
  • Lead and participate in problem solving efforts with multi-discipline technical staff, maintenance and production.
  • Use PI Vision and Data Link to analyze process issues and provide input to solve process problems.
  • Create and develop electrical control solutions that will support process improvements and improve equipment reliability.
  • Assist production and maintenance with equipment and process issues.
  • PLC/HMI and controls redesign and upgrades of existing processes.
  • Install and troubleshoot camera systems on industrial equipment.
  • Incorporate SMART Manufacturing principles and tools into automated inspection systems to improve processes, data collection/analysis, and drive quick results in recovery improvements.
  • May mentor employees to increase their knowledge of equipment and process, when needed.
Qualifications

You have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology degree with at least 3 years of experience.
  • 3-6 years of Electrical Engineering experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience designing, installing, maintaining electromechanical systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Project programs
  • Good oral and written communication skills in a variety of settings (shop floor, peers, plant leadership, etc)
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R.
  • 730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Authorizations from the relevant government agency may be required to meet export control compliance requirements.
Exceptional Candidates possess
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Manufacturing experience in a highly industrial environment
  • 1-3 years' experience with PLC's, HMI's, AC/DC drives & motors, measuring devices and ethernet cameras
  • Proficiency with Rockwell programming software (i.e.: RS Logix and FactoryView)
  • 3 years or more of experience in leading electrical projects
  • Demonstrated success as a project implementation manager, including budget and schedule development.

Davenport Works is the country’s largest aluminum rolling mill, it was opened in 1948 and currently employs more than 2,000 people and ships product worldwide.
