Job summary

Tropical Smoothie Café in Durham, NC is seeking a General Manager to lead daily café operations, drive guest satisfaction, and grow sales. This hands-on role focuses on people development, brand standards, and delivering a fun, high-energy environment.

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant, quick-service, fast-casual, retail, or hospitality management experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic understanding of scheduling, labor management, inventory, sales, and cost control.
• Commitment to food safety, cleanliness, and operational excellence.
• Positive attitude, dependable work ethic, and passion for guest service.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 35 pounds as needed.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day café operations while ensuring fast, friendly, and accurate service.
• Hire, train, coach, schedule, and develop team members to meet performance expectations.
• Create a welcoming environment that delivers exceptional hospitality to every guest.
• Maintain Tropical Smoothie Café brand standards for food quality, smoothie preparation, cleanliness, safety, and guest service.
• Monitor sales, labor, food costs, inventory, and controllable expenses to support profitability.
• Ensure proper opening, closing, cash handling, food safety, and sanitation procedures are followed.
• Motivate the team to meet sales goals, promote specials, and support local marketing or catering opportunities.
• Address guest concerns professionally and take action to improve the overall café experience.
• Maintain equipment, supplies, and inventory levels to keep operations running smoothly.
• Lead by example by stepping into any café position when needed.
